Open Chair Thanksgiving — Indivisible Brown County

Thanksgiving is about gratitude — and this year, we’re turning that gratitude into connection.
This project is coordinated by Indivisible Brown County, a volunteer-led community organization based in Green Bay. We’ve planned dozens of community events safely and responsibly, and this one is built with the same care.
Open Chair Thanksgiving invites Brown County residents to share the holiday with someone new — whether you have an extra seat at your table or you’d love to join one.
A single person can be a host. A family can be a guest. Either way, every chair filled is a bridge built.
Together, we’re creating joy across our community — one meal, one neighbor, one story at a time.
How It Works
1. Sign Up
Choose one of the two links below:
- Host Form — for anyone with an extra chair or two (yes, even if you live alone!)
- Guest Form — for anyone who would like company and conversation this Thanksgiving
Each form asks for a few details — your name, city, contact info, household size, dietary needs, and comfort preferences (such as alcohol-free, pet-free, or kid-friendly).
We’ll also ask for a reference (like a friend, coworker, or church contact).
2. Matching Process
Our volunteer coordination team will:
- Review every submission carefully.
- Pair hosts and guests by location, accessibility, meal preferences, and comfort level.
- Introduce both parties by email or phone before Thanksgiving so you can connect and confirm plans.
- Keep all addresses private until both sides agree to meet.
We personally verify every participant through social media and/or community references, ensuring that everyone involved feels secure and welcomed.
3. Thanksgiving Day
You’ll gather for a shared meal. This is about connection, not perfection. Meeting new people is an adventure that can bless both sides of the table.
You might walk away with a new friend, a new story, or simply a fuller heart.
